Surprise trip to Utah

Jarom and I have really loved working as substitute teachers.
It's a different experience every day,
and not gonna lie, its helping me to not forget all the basics I learned in school.
The only downfall is that when the kids have time off we don't have work.
I mean don't get me wrong, its nice to have a 3 week Christmas vacation.
But, unfortunately, we still have bills to pay, and we have to eat.
[Weird]
The week before Easter was spring break for most of the school districts in our area.
And we couldn't really find work,
so Wednesday morning at about 8 a.m. we decided to go to Utah for a couple of days.
And at 9 a.m. we were on the road.
Jarom wanted to go play basketball with some friends in Provo when we got there.
[Of course :)]
My parents didn't know we were coming, we wanted to surprise them.
So I just texted my mom to see what she was doing,
and surprise surprise she just happened to be in Provo with my uncle at dinner.
So I asked where they were and we showed up at the restaurant to surprise her.

It was such a fun surprise.
My mom was shocked and I think, very happy to see us.
Jarom went to go play basketball while I hung out with my mom, brother, uncle, and cousin.

This little lady is Cairo, my almost 2 year old cousin.
She is adorable.

We kept ourselves very busy while we were in Utah for 4 days.
On Thursday, we went up to Logan and visited with Jarom's brother, Wade, and his family.
We love them and our niece, Lou.
It would be a perfect world if our family could all live close by each other.
That night, we went to dinner for my uncles birthday.
And Jarom got to try Oysters for the first time.
His face was priceless.
He really didn't like them all too much.

On Friday we went down to Provo to meet Jarom's friend, Tiny, for lunch at Tucanos.
Unfortunately, Tiny got stuck in his final an extra two hours so Jare and I had a nice date and enjoyed some yummy food.

That night we went mini golfing with my family at Cherry Hills.
We had so much fun!
We laughed and played and enjoyed ourselves.
It was a very memorable experience.

Meg and mom showing some love.

I love these guys.

On Saturday we went dress shopping for Meg, ate food, and played games.
That night we colored eggs.
Yes, we are all pretty much grown up and we still dye eggs.
I love it.
I have learned since getting married, how much I love traditions, parties, and spending time with family.

Don't let these two fool you, they love each other.

Zach and Jarom were both very studious about their egg designs.

And mom just loves pink and red, so every one one of her eggs were one of those colors.

Oh Zach, I can't wait to meet the girl you are going to marry. :)

Love this sister of mine!

Jare and Zach, being weird.

Dad slept on the couch instead of joining our easter egg dying party.
So Jarom, being the good son-in-law that he is, dyed one for dad.
And wrote "I'm Bryan" on it.
So thoughtful.

We had a great time.

On Sunday after church we got to open our Easter basket's.
Yes, my mom still makes them for us.
I don't know that I'll ever grow up.
Jarom sometimes thinks he married a teenager. :)
Oopsies.

Later, my uncle and aunt, Kim and Katie, and my cousin Cairo came for dinner.
They brought mom, Meg, and I some genie pants from Morocco.
Well, my husband, being the opinionated man that he is, quickly voiced his dislike [hatred, whatever] of the pants.
He left the room and a couple of minutes later comes back in wearing one of Jake's shirts upside down and says the pants are no different than this shirt.
Haha oh my heck.
We were laughing so hard.
I married a funny man.

Jarom with Kenya, the great dane.

And then we had a little Easter egg hunt for Cairo.

She is so cute and I loved getting to spend more time with her.

And she was so good to share her candy with Jare.

Dad and his "I'm Bryan" egg.

We had such a great time in Utah.
It was fun to make a surprise visit out there and create a lot of wonderful memories.
I think that as long as I have my family in my life,
I will always be happy.

Stewart Family Easter Party

Getting married was definitely one of my better ideas.
I had, as many know, spent many years trying to convince Jarom to marry me.
It took three and a half years, but finally tied the knot.
[Obviously]
I love being married.
And one of the best things that has come from our marriage are my in-laws, Jarom's family.
Jarom and I have often talked about how blessed we have been with our families.
He gets along so well with mine.
[And they love him]
And I fit in so well with his, not to mention that I absolutely adore them.
We spend most Saturdays at Jare's parent's house.
And lucky for us Jarom's sister, Shyler, and her family live there as well so we get to spend lots of time with them.

Shyler threw an Easter party the week before Easter at my in-laws house.
She invited her uncles family, as well, who has a couple of younger kids that could hang out with Shy's little boy, Tyson.
We colored eggs in the morning with some of Jarom's cousins.
And then later in the afternoon we had a bbq and easter egg hunt.

We lived with this little nephew of ours for about a month and a half after we got married.
And because of that I think that we have developed a special bond with him.
He is truly one of our favorite people to spend time with.

Jare and his cousins made this awesome fort!
The kids loved it.

They had a great time running through it and playing in the fort.

And Tyson just ran in circles over and over again going through the fort.
He is such a hoot.

Ty was our handy man and cooked all the meat

Me and my little buddy

This picture melts my heart.
I love watching Jarom with Tyson.
[I'm excited for him to be a daddy one day....in a long time, one day]

Jarom and I hid the eggs.
Jarom hid one way up in the tree so his cousin had to climb to the top to retrieve it

Jare also hid an egg in a grapefruit.
Ash loved that. Haha

Tyson's first easter egg hunt.

It was too cute.

Have I mentioned how much I love this family of mine?
I'm so grateful for them.
Thanks Shy for throwing this together!

Meg and Mom come to Cali

At the end of March,
Mom and Meg came to visit us here in California.
We had such a fun, short weekend with them.
We went out to dinner, went shoe shopping,
went to Women's Conference, played games, and saw a movie.
It was so nice to see my Mom and Meg.
It hadn't even been 2 months since the last time I'd seen them,
but its amazing how living away from them
has helped me gain a better appreciation for the time we do get to spend together.

Meg and Mom leaving Utah

The night they got here Jare had a ward basketball game to play in.
So Meg and I (and when I say Meg and I, I just mean me) kept score.

We went up to my in-laws and hung out with them.
My poor nephew was sick, but loved Meg and just followed her around.

We love taking weird looking pictures together

Jare and our nephew, Tyson

We love spending time with this little stinker

Funniest thing ever when he came and sat right on my face

My mom loves when Jare sings and plays
and so he put on a little show for us

And one of our favorite things, playing games.

I love my mom and Meg.
It was such a treat to have them visit us for a couple days.
One of the things I miss the most living in California is my little sister.
She is one of my favorite people and I hate missing out on her life.
Love you mom and Meg-thanks for visiting!
